Questions about homeops, or about anything on this site, go to hank@niuroot.com. A person answers, usually within a day.
Joining the beta
homeops is in a private beta for households in Santa Clara County served by PG&E. A member of a household that already uses it can invite you from the app (Settings → Household → Invite a family member), or you can write to us. You will receive a TestFlight invitation and a link that sets up your household in one tap.
Connecting your utilities
The app asks for your street address once, so it knows which utilities serve your home, and then lists them under Connections. Each connection asks for that provider's own sign-in. The sign-in is kept in your phone's Keychain and sent only to that provider's website; it never reaches our server. If a provider asks for a one-time code, the app asks you for it on the same screen.
If a connection stops working, the Connections row says so and offers "Sign in" again. When a utility's website changes, we usually fix the connector on the server, and the app picks it up at its next sync without an update.
Reading the numbers
- The Overview page reads "Data through date": utilities publish readings one to three days late, and the app shows the latest day every utility has reported.
- "Usual" is the median of the same utility over the fourteen complete days before, for this home.
- A saving is counted only when it is clearly beyond your home's normal swing, or when it follows exactly from the prices (a plan switch, a discount, a smaller cart). Until then the card says "not counted yet".
- Every item under "What we noticed" carries its evidence one tap away. If the steps in a guide did not match what you saw, tell us from the item itself.
Removing your data
Settings → About → "Remove this household from this phone" deletes the sign-ins, the token and the cached results from the phone. To have the household's readings deleted from the server as well, write to hank@niuroot.com; it is removed within 30 days. See the privacy page.
Reporting a problem
Email hank@niuroot.com with what you expected, what you saw, and the build number from Settings. Please do not send passwords or account numbers; we never need them.
